Anthropologie | Old Town Pasadena Photographer

Facebook can be weird sometimes, eerily suggesting that you friend random people you don't know or ever want to meet. But then FB can be the best thing ever. I've been really involved with different FB photography interest groups this past year, and in the process met a cool gal named Nelly - check out her work! She's basically my twin. Nelly and I hit it off after discovering we both held the same passion for film photography and of course, super delicious food. We decided to meet up in Old town Pasadena to have lunch, talk about weddings, film, blogs, our in-laws, and everything in between. I didn't realize how much in common we could possibly have, since we grew up on opposite sides of the country. It was uncanny, but still cool.

After lunch we strolled around the little alleyways, photographing random objects and people. There was a waiter taking a break from his job at the Cheesecake Factory, so then I casually asked if he would let me take a photo, and he happily obliged. Around the corner was another lady with her baby, whom I thought was the cutest ever, so naturally I had to take a photo of the sweet mother and son. Had I been less nervous I would've taken the opportunity to strike up a convo and listen to their stories. I'm thankful that Nelly was with me because I could never muster up the courage to ask random strangers to take their picture unless I had a friend close by to save me from rejection. Luckily no one rejected me! But we were shooed away toward the end of our walk when security approached us and requested that we stop taking photos. So I guess that was the end of that...nonetheless, we got in a good handful of shots and I'm happy to say these were all shot on Kodak film. See Kodak Moments below!

By the way, Anthropologie is my second home.

M & M | Backyard Anniversary Shoot

Mike & Michelle are the sweetest couple - they have big hearts and are incredibly personal. I'm sure they will pass these awesome traits on to their kids. In fact, a big congrats to them since they just announced they will be having their first child this fall! I'm so excited for them as I know it has been an answer to many prayers. This was an anniversary shoot to celebrate all kinds of things, but mostly to celebrate that love endures through the best and worst of times. Since Mike is a landscape architect, he had a perfectly manicured backyard with california native plants and a big lemon tree, so undoubtedly his masterpiece was a great backdrop for the photo session. The local park had a beautiful large field and as you know, california sunsets on a wide open plain are simply magical. Not only are M & M a photogenic couple, they're so gentle, kind and loving toward each other and I really wanted these images to show how amazing that is.

The Alcove | Griffith Park, Los Angeles

If you are a Los Angeles citizen and haven't been to the Alcove...then shame on you! :P It's really just a cute restaurant that's nestled in the heart of Los Feliz and down the road from Griffith Park. Brunch in LA is a must for visitors and natives alike. The Alcove is the ultimate place for brunch but is still highly recommended for any meal of the day, imho. Their menu is HUGE, and very Californian. I think I spent a good 20 minutes once looking through all their options and probably narrowed it down to my top 3. Everything here is consistently delicious, including their eggs benedict, crab cake sandwich, and all their decadent desserts. The ambiance is what makes it super fun to dine at the Alcove. It seems like a small craftsman home that was renovated into a restaurant. They have these beautiful dark hardwood floors and lots of windows to bring in natural light. The outdoor patio seating area is actually their main dining area with tons of seating and cute eclectic tables and chairs. Let me know the next time you go, because I might join you... :)

FEATURED on Style Me Pretty! | Pasadena, CA

Dear Readers,

I'm overwhelmed with joy at the moment because I was featured on Style Me Pretty recently for Tina & James' Engagement session. The two of them put in a lot of work to help me get beautiful shots and I just want to say thank you so much for helping me make this possible. In addition, my husband has guided me and been so supportive throughout this process that I have to thank him, too. I know this all sounds kind of cheesy, as if I won an Oscar, but it really feels awesome since I'm constantly trying to create good, meaningful work. But ultimately I see this as a blessing, because photography is a struggle - it's hard work, and has its ups and downs. And from this feature I am reminded of how my creativity has always been informed by a Creator who is the source of all beauty and love in this world.

Maternity Session | Los Angeles Maternity Photographer

This photo session was very dear to me as I helped a friend document her time being pregnant and what it felt like. Her son was born only one month after this shoot. I knew she was going to be a great mother. We shot this in my home, it was very intimate, minimalistic, but with a lot of heart poured into it. I hope one day Owen can look at these photos and know that he was fully loved even before he was born.

Wayfarer's Chapel Wedding | Palos Verdes

In this post I want to share a few quick shots I took at my cousin Jasmine & John's beautiful wedding in Rancho Palos Verdes and the Wayfarer's Glass Chapel. Sweet, small, and intimate. Attending a wedding as a guest means that I get more chances to capture the honest, little in-between moments during the day. I also snapped a shot of my aunt and uncle - two of the most generous people I know. It was so nice to see family from NC!
